A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Ten Saint John's student-athletes competed at Division II Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational last Thursday-Friday (April 14-15).

Junior Brett Hague (Brainerd, Minn.) led the Johnnies on Friday with a 10th-place finish out of 35 throwers in the javelin (53.50 meters).

Junior Maguire Petersen (Hutchinson, Minn.) 14th out of 24 participants with a height of 1.98 meters in the high jump (invitational draw), while freshman Alec Ungar (Eden Prairie, Minn./Chanhassen) placed 11th in the meet's open draw of the high jump (1.93 meters) and 58th in the long jump (6.50 meters).

Two Johnnies earned personal bests in the open B's 1,500 meters. Sophomore Tommy Allen (Woodbury, Minn./St. Paul Academy) finished 18th out of 122 runners in 3:56.11, while junior Alexei Hensel (Buffalo, Minn.) followed in 73rd (3:59.75). Hensel also raced Thursday in the 800 meters and finished 151st out of 196 participants (fifth out of nine in the 21st heat) with a season-best time of 1:55.35.

Senior Michael Wallace (Nassau, Bahamas/St. Anne's) was 20th, thanks to a season-best mark in the triple jump (14.03 meters), and 65th in the long jump (6.24 meters). Junior Elijah Wade (Waco, Texas/Vanguard College Prep) followed Wallace in the triple jump in 27th (13.43 meters).

Junior Eli Mollet (Jefferson, S.D./Bishop Heelan Catholic, Iowa) claimed 17th out of 46 competitors with a personal-best distance of 49.25 meters in the hammer throw. Hague and another classmate, Gavin Rupp (Villard, Minn./Minnewaska Area), placed 23rd (46.76 meters) and 37th (41.04 meters), respectively.
