AZUSA, Calif. - Ten Saint John's track and field student-athletes competed at Division II Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday, April 15.
Junior
Brett Hague (Brainerd, Minn.) led the Johnnies Friday with a 10th-place finish out of 35 throwers in the javelin (53.50 meters).

Maguire Petersen (Hutchinson, Minn.) claimed 14th out of 24 participants with a height of 1.98 meters in the high jump (invitational draw), while freshman
Alec Ungar (Eden Prairie, Minn./Chanhassen) placed 11th in the meet's open draw of the high jump (1.93 meters) and 58th in the long jump (6.50 meters).
Two Johnnies earned personal bests in the open B's 1,500 meters. Sophomore
Tommy Allen (Woodbury, Minn./St. Paul Academy) finished 18th out of 122 runners in 3:56.11, while junior
Alexei Hensel (Buffalo, Minn.) followed in 73rd (3:59.75).
Senior
Michael Wallace (Nassau, Bahamas/St. Anne's) was 20th, thanks to a season-best mark in the triple jump (14.03 meters), and 65th in the long jump (6.24 meters). Junior
Elijah Wade (Waco, Texas/Vanguard College Prep) followed Wallace in the triple jump in 27th (13.43 meters).

Eli Mollet (Jefferson, S.D./Bishop Heelan Catholic, Iowa) claimed 17th out of 46 competitors with a personal-best distance of 49.25 meters in the hammer throw. Hague and another classmate,
Gavin Rupp (Villard, Minn./Minnewaska Area), placed 23rd (46.76 meters) and 37th (41.04 meters), respectively. Rupp and Mollet finished 37th (39.90 meters) and 44th (35.74 meters) in the discus.
Senior
Jack Young (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) finished 72nd out of 118 sprinters in the 100-meter dash with a season-best time of 11.04 seconds and 78th out of 114 in the 200-meter dash (22.31).
Thursday morning, junior
Lloyd Young (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) won the third and final heat of the 10,000 meters - among 35 runners - with a time of 30:24.02. The time is the second-fastest in program history (John Cragg's 29:57.80 from 1970 stands as the record) and the 22nd-best in Division III this season.
Hensel raced later in the day Thursday and finished 151st out of 196 participants (fifth out of nine in the 21st heat) in the 800 meters with a season-best time of 1:55.35.
SJU competes at the Carleton Relays next Saturday, April 23, in Northfield.
