ORLANDO, Minn. - Saint John's tennis started its spring-break trip with a 5-4 win over Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday, March 6, at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
The Johnnies (4-0, 3-0 MIAC) won two of the three doubles matches and clinched the victory thanks to a thrilling win from junior
Will Fischer (Spicer, Minn./Willmar) at No. 6 singles. Fischer dropped the first set 6-2, but bounced back with a 6-1 victory in the second and took the super-breaker, 10-8.

Peyton Fischer (Spicer, Minn./Willmar) and freshman
Ryan Will (Northfield, Minn.) and sophomores
Will Deters (Minneapolis, Minn./Wayzata) and
Mark Rosen (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) both improved to 5-1 on the year with victories at Nos. 2 (8-4) and 3 (8-3) doubles, respectively.
Junior
Wil McDowell (Sioux Falls, S.D./O'Gorman) won his match at No. 1 singles, 6-3 and 6-0, while Will moved to 5-1 with a straight-set victory at No. 4 (6-1, 6-1).
The Bishops (3-8, 0-2 NCAC) recorded a close 8-6 decision at No. 1 doubles and a win via the super-breaker at No. 5 singles.
The Johnnies face Covenant (Ga.) for a 6 p.m. ET match on Monday, March 7, at the Fort Gatlin Tennis Center in Orlando.
