SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Saint John's tennis suffered a 7-0 loss to Division II Augustana (S.D.) on Saturday night, March 26, at Huether Family Match Pointe in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The match was played under Division II rules, in which the three doubles matches were played to six points (instead of eight) and counted as one point toward the final score.
Junior
Peyton Fischer (Spicer, Minn./Willmar) and freshman
Ryan Will (Northfield, Minn.) won the lone match for SJU (7-3, 4-0 MIAC) at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, to improve to 8-3 this season.
The Vikings (5-9, 0-4 MIAA) won the other two doubles matches 6-0 and the six singles bouts in straight sets.
The Johnnies return to conference play by hosting No. 19 Gustavus Adolphus for their home opener at 1 p.m. next Saturday, April 2, at the Chang Tennis Complex in Collegeville.
