SARTELL, Minn. - Saint John's tennis improved to 2-0 (2-0 MIAC) with a 9-0 shutout of Concordia-Moorhead in its home opener on Saturday, Feb. 19, at Sta-Fit in Sartell.

SJU won all six singles matches against the Cobbers (0-2, 0-2 MIAC) in straight sets, though junior Peyton Fischer (Spicer, Minn./Willmar) used a 7-4 tie-breaker in his first set to claim the victory in his first collegiate match in the No. 1 slot (7-6, 7-5). He and freshman Ryan Will (Northfield, Minn.) posted an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.

Sophomore Mark Rosen (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) went to a seventh point in his first set at No. 2 singles and tallied a 6-1 score in the second to move to 2-0 in league play, while sophomore Mike Krasowski (Wausau, Wis./East) tallied a clean sheet (6-0, 6-0) at No. 3 to improve to 3-1 (2-0 MIAC).

Sophomore Daniel Perez (Quito, Ecuador), sophomore Will Deters (Minneapolis, Minn./Wayzata) and junior Will Fischer (Spicer, Minn./Willmar) recorded wins at Nos. 4-6.

Junior Hunter Fischer (Spicer, Minn./Willmar) and sophomore Nolan Morrey (Rochester, Minn./Lourdes) teamed up for an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles and the duo of Will Fischer and junior Joe Dwyer (Hibbing, Minn.) posted an 8-2 score at No. 3.

The Johnnies travel to face Saint Mary's for a 3:30 p.m. match next Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Winona Tennis Center.
