COON RAPIDS, Minn. – No. 21 Saint John's golf is still in second place after the second round of the 2022 MIAC Championships held Sunday, Oct. 2, at Bunker Hills G.C. (par 72).
SJU begins the final round at 9:20 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3.
Bethel (-1, 575) increased its lead to 10 shots over SJU (+9, 585) with a 291 (+3) Sunday to the Johnnies' 292 (+4). Carleton and Gustavus Adolphus are tied for third at 600 (+24).
Junior
Nate Loxtercamp (Richmond, Minn./Melrose Area) led the Johnnies again Sunday with a 1-under par 71. He went -2 on his last eight holes, including a birdie on No. 18, and is tied for second out of the 45 golfers with a two-round total of 140 (-4).
Sophomore
Andrew Boemer (Eagan, Minn./St. Thomas Academy) birdied two of his final three holes and posted a 1-over par 73. He is tied for eighth (+4, 148).
Juniors
Sam Berger (Waconia, Minn.) and
Blake Schuler (Waconia, Minn.) followed with a 74 (+2) each. Berger collected three birdies and three pars on his final six holes, and is tied for fourth (+2, 146). Schuler is tied for 14th (+7, 151).
Senior
Thomas Gutzmer (Jordan, Minn.) recorded a 75 (+3), the tournament's best drop score so far.
