COON RAPIDS, Minn. – No. 21 Saint John's golf is in second place following the first round of the 2022 MIAC Championships held Saturday, Oct. 1, at a rainy Bunker Hills G.C. (par 72) in Coon Rapids.
Bethel was -7 after its first four holes and finished with a 4-under par 284, nine shots ahead of SJU in second (+5, 293). Concordia-Moorhead is third at 295 (+7), followed by Gustavus Adolphus (+13, 301) and Macalester (+14, 302).
The second round begins for SJU at 9:20 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.

Nate Loxtercamp (Richmond, Minn./Melrose Area) bogeyed No. 2 but carded a team-leading four birdies to go -4 on his final 16 holes and claim a 3-under par 69, which ties him for second out of the 45 golfers.

Sam Berger (Waconia, Minn.), the reigning MIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week, totaled an even-par 72 and sophomore
Andrew Boemer (Eagan, Minn./St. Thomas Academy) was next with a 75 (+3).

Blake Schuler (Waconia, Minn.) battled to a 77 (+5), going +3 with a birdie on his final four holes, and senior
Thomas Gutzmer (Jordan, Minn.) went +7 on his final 10 holes for a 78 (+6).
