COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Saint John's University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted a Special Olympics event on Sunday, March 8, in Collegeville.

Over 20 Special Olympics athletes took part in the two-hour basketball event in Sexton Arena.

"It was wonderful to continue this event with the Special Olympics athletes from the surrounding area," SJU senior swimmer Ryan Pauley, who organized the event, said. "We had a great time playing basketball and getting to know the athletes on Sunday."

The athletes and members of SAAC, as well as other SJU basketball student-athletes, participated in a number of drills followed by full-court games.

"It was awesome to see the enthusiasm of the athletes and be able to get the chance to work with such amazing people," SJU senior shortstop Michael Gruber said. "We had a blast representing SJU and the Johnnie athletic department."
