CentraCare & Saint John’s Athletics Announce Sports Medicine Partnership

10/15/2026 1:51:00 PM

ST. CLOUD, Minn. and COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – CentraCare and Saint John's University Athletics have announced a three-year partnership focused on supporting student-athlete health and wellness, while enhancing engagement with fans and communities across Central Minnesota.

As part of the partnership, CentraCare will serve as the official health care and orthopedic provider of Johnnie Athletics, with team physicians and their sideline medical coverage supporting student-athletes. This includes physician coverage at home and away football games, medical support for home hockey games, and regular on-campus clinic access for student-athletes through the university's athletic training room. Physicians and advanced practice providers will work alongside Saint John's sports medicine team to support athlete care, injury prevention and recovery, with student-athletes also benefiting from access to the specialized expertise of the CentraCare M Physicians Orthopedics partnership.

"Health and wellness extend far beyond the clinic walls. Through this partnership, we're investing in the well-being of student athletes and helping create a healthier, stronger community. We're proud to bring our sports medicine expertise to Saint John's while supporting young people as they compete, learn and grow." said Lori Mader, CentraCare's Senior Director of Orthopedics.

A key focus of the partnership will be developing content that shares the experiences of student-athletes and highlights topics such as sports medicine, recovery, mental well-being and performance. The organizations also plan to create educational opportunities that connect athletes, coaches and health care professionals with fans and community members.

"Outstanding health care support is critical to the success and well-being of our student-athletes," said Dan O'Brien, SJU director of athletics. "CentraCare has been a valued health care partner, and this expanded relationship strengthens the resources available to our students while enhancing the experience for fans and the broader Johnnie community."

Together, CentraCare and Saint John's University Athletics are building upon a longstanding relationship to advance student-athlete care, wellness education and community engagement across Central Minnesota.
