FARGO, N.D. - Saint John's tennis opened its conference schedule with a 5-4 win over Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday, March 16, in Fargo, N.D.

The Johnnies (3-5, 1-0 MIAC) clawed back from a 2-1 deficit following doubles play with wins in four of the six singles matches, including Nos. 4-6, to earn the victory.

The Cobbers (4-8, 0-4 MIAC) edged the Johnnies at both No. 1 (8-6) and No. 2 [8-7 (7-4)] doubles, but sophomore Parker Dutko (Lake Elmo, Minn./Stillwater Area) and senior Hunter Krebsbach (St. Paul, Minn./Mounds View) posted an 8-1 win at No. 3.

Sophomore Thomas Gillach (Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes) won at No. 1 singles (7-5, 6-2) and the Johnnies posted straight-set victories at Nos. 4-6: Krebsbach at No. 4 (6-4, 7-5); junior Jarod Swoboda (Willmar, Minn.) at No. 5 (6-3, 6-3); and junior Jess Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd) at No. 6 (6-1, 6-2).

The Johnnies return home to host St. Norbert (Wis.) for a 2 p.m. non-conference match on Sunday, March 17, at Sta-Fit in Sartell.
