MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Saint John's tennis improved to 4-0 (2-0 MIAC) with a late-night, 6-3 win over Hamline on Friday, Feb. 23, at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
SJU swept all three doubles matches and the two teams split the six singles bouts. Two of Hamline's (3-2, 0-1 MIAC) three singles wins came via the super-breaker at Nos. 2 and 5.
Freshman
Thomas Gillach (Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes) improved to 4-0 (2-0 MIAC) at No. 3 with a straight-set win (6-2, 6-1) and freshman
Nate Jordre (St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) moved to 2-0 at No. 6. Gillach and senior
Tim Larson (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) are also 4-0 (2-0 MIAC) at No. 1 doubles, thanks to their 8-4 win Friday night.
Junior
Hunter Krebsbach (St. Paul, Minn./Mounds View) won his match at No. 4 singles thanks to a 10-7 decision in the super-breaker (6-3, 4-6).
The Johnnies return to non-conference play with a 1:30 p.m., neutral-site match against Luther (Iowa) on Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Owatonna Tennis Center in Owatonna.
