SARTELL, Minn. – Saint John's tennis kept its postseason hopes alive with a 6-3 win over Hamline on Friday, April 28, at Sta-Fit in Sartell.

The Johnnies (4-12, 3-5 MIAC) wrap up their regular-season schedule with a 1 p.m. match against St. Olaf (1-11, 1-7 MIAC) on Saturday, April 29, at the Chang Tennis Complex in Collegeville. An SJU win and a loss by Macalester in either of its final two matches, Saturday at Carleton or Sunday at Hamline, would give the Johnnies the fifth seed in next week's five-team MIAC Playoffs.

SJU gained a 2-1 lead after doubles competition against the Pipers (7-9, 2-5 MIAC) and won four of the six singles matches, including via the super-breaker.

Junior Tim Larson (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) extended his win streak to six matches with a 6-1 and 6-2 win at No. 1, while sophomore Ryan Meger (Stillwater, Minn./Mahtomedi) followed suit with a straight-set win of his own, 6-1 and 6-0, at No. 2. Larson is now 11-4 (6-2 MIAC) at No. 1.

Sophomore Jonah Punnoose (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) dropped his first set 6-4 but battled back with a 7-6 (7-3) win in the second and earned the victory with a 10-3 decision in the super-breaker.

Freshman Jess Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd) did the opposite of Punnoose, winning his first set (6-2) before dropping the second, 6-4. He won his super-breaker, 10-6.
