SJU Ends Tennis Season With MIAC Semifinal Loss at No. 18 Gustavus

ST. PETER, Minn. – Saint John's tennis ended its 2016 season with a 9-0 loss at No. 18 Gustavus Adolphus in the MIAC Playoff semifinals on Friday, May 6, in St. Peter.

The Johnnies (10-9, 5-4 MIAC) lost two singles matches via the super-breaker, sophomore Tim Larson (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) at No. 2 (4-6, 6-2, 4-10) and freshman Ryan Meger (Stillwater, Minn./Mahtomedi) at No. 5 (7-6, 3-6, 4-10). The loss was Larson's first to an NCAA Division III opponent since the last time he faced the Gusties' Andres Saenz in the conference opener Feb. 13 (6-3 and 6-2).

Seniors Ben Lahren (Wausau, Wis./West) and Andrew Nagel (Maple Grove, Minn.) saw their winning streak at No. 2 doubles come to an end at 10 with an 8-5 loss.

Gustavus (23-7, 9-0 MIAC) advances to host Carleton for the MIAC Playoff championship on Sunday, May 8.
