ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Saint John's baseball posted another comeback win to salvage a doubleheader split at Bethel on Saturday, April 30, in Arden Hills.

The Johnnies (25-10, 13-5 MIAC) dropped game one by a score of 7-4 but scored six unanswered runs to erase a 5-0 deficit in a 6-5 victory in the nightcap. The win in game two was the seventh in conference play (out of 13 wins) in which SJU was either tied or behind within the final two innings of regulation.

SJU found the scoreboard with two runs in the sixth, tied the game at 5-5 with three runs in the seventh and scored what proved to be the game-winning run on an RBI single from freshman outfielder Max Jackson (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall).

Junior Alex Kendall (St. Cloud, Minn./Saint John's Prep) improved to 6-2 with the win in relief, allowing four hits in three scoreless innings. Sophomore Nick Noack (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) recorded his third save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

BU (18-16, 8-8 MIAC) jumped on sophomore Ben Etzell (Greenbank, Wash./Coupeville) for seven runs on six hits in 3.2 innings in game one.

Senior outfielder Dan Keller (Vadnais Heights, Minn./White Bear Lake) launched a two-run homer, his fourth of the season, to give SJU a brief 2-1 lead in the second inning and the visitors ended the scoring with two runs with two outs in the fifth.

Senior first baseman Patrick Strey (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) and freshman second baseman Cole Weaver (Carlsbad, Calif./Santa Fe Christian) each went 4-for-8 at the plate, while senior outfielder Mike Stegora (Red Wing, Minn.) collected three hits, two of which were doubles.

SJU left 15 men on base, hit into two double plays and had two runners picked off at second base on the day.

The Johnnies return home to host Concordia-Moorhead in the regular-season finale at 1 p.m. next Saturday, May 7, at Saint John's Field in Collegeville. SJU will dedicate the baseball park and plaza immediately following game one.
