ResultsSARTELL, Minn. – Saint John's tennis earned its first win of the season with an 8-1 victory over Concordia-Moorhead on Sunday, Feb. 14, at Fitness Evolution in Sartell.
The Johnnies (1-2, 1-1 MIAC) jumped out to a 3-0 lead through doubles competition, including a thrilling 9-8 (10-8) win by seniors
Jack Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd) and
Andrew Nagel (Maple Grove, Minn.) at No. 1.
Hansen suffered SJU's lone loss on the day at No. 1 singles. He won the first set 6-2 but dropped the second by the same score before falling in the super-breaker, 10-7. The Johnnies won the other five singles matches in straight sets.
The Johnnies continue MIAC play at St. Olaf on Friday, Feb. 19. The match is scheduled for 6:30 at the West Hills Tennis and Fitness Center in Owatonna.
