Nationally-Ranked Johnnie Golf Team Tops No. 14 St. Thomas, 300-311

MONTICELLO, Minn. – No. 24 Saint John's golf defeated No. 14 St. Thomas by a 300-311 dual score on a windy Sunday, April 12, at Monticello Country Club (par 71).

The Johnnies won the match play, 11.5-2.5.

Sophomore Mack Farley (Lakeville, Minn./South) led SJU and earned co-medalist honors with St. Thomas' Nick Nielsen with a two-over par 73.

Senior Drew Lynch (Stillwater, Minn.) and three SJU sophomores followed with a 74 (+3) each. Lynch and Ryan Gallagher (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) tallied the 74 as members of the five-man varsity team, while Morgan Rask (Otsego, Minn./Rogers) and Collin Seal (Victoria, Minn./Chanhassen) competed as individuals. Farley, Gallagher and Seal tallied four birdies apiece.

Freshmen Josh Polingo (Litchfield, Minn.) and Mitch Pfingsten (Fairmont, Minn.) rounded out the Johnnies' five with a 79 (+8) and 81 (+10), respectively. 

The Johnnies travel to southern Minnesota for the Gustavus Adolphus Invitational on Sunday-Monday, April 19-20. The first round of competition is scheduled to be held Sunday at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, followed by 36 holes on Monday at Le Sueur C.C.
