Johnnies Split Saturday Tennis Doubleheader

St. Olaf Results | Northwestern Results

SARTELL, Minn. – Saint John's tennis split its pair of matches on Saturday, March 21, at Fitness Evolution in Sartell.

The Johnnies (4-5, 0-2 MIAC) dropped a conference match to St. Olaf (5-2, 4-1 MIAC), 6-3, before bouncing back with an 8-1 non-conference victory over Northwestern (Minn.).

Junior Jack Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd) improved to 2-0 in conference play with a win at No. 1 singles against the Oles' Stephan Nolan, 6-2 and 6-2. Junior Ben Lahren (Wausau, Wis./West) tallied SJU's other win in singles play at No. 5 via the super-breaker: 6-4, 3-6 and 10-6.

Lahren and freshman Tim Larson (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) teamed up to record the third point of the match at No. 2 doubles, 8-5.

SJU cruised to the 8-1 win over Northwestern (3-8, 1-0 UMAC), including a pair of pro-scoring victories at Nos. 5 and 6 singles. The lone loss was due to an injury default at No. 2 singles (Larson).

The Johnnies travel to face Concordia-Moorhead for a 2:30 p.m. match next Saturday, March 28, at Courts Plus in Fargo, N.D.
