Carleton Claims Five Singles Matches in 6-3 Win Over SJU

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Carleton won five of the six singles matches in a 6-3 win over Saint John's on Saturday, April 12, in St. Joseph.

Junior Jordan Otto (Rice, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral) won the lone singles match for SJU (5-9, 1-5 MIAC) at No. 3, 6-1 and 6-3. Sophomore Andrew Nagel (Maple Grove, Minn.) won his first set with a 7-5 decision in the tie-breaker, but lost his match at No. 6, 10-7 via the super-breaker.

SJU gained a 2-1 lead over Carleton (13-7, 5-0 MIAC) after doubles play. The tandems of Nagel/senior Joe Laue (St. Louis Park, Minn./Holy Angels) and Otto/sophomore Ben Lahren (Wausau, Wis./West) won with 8-6 scores at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.

The Johnnies play host to Division II St. Cloud State on Tuesday, April 15. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the CSB Tennis Courts in St. Joseph, but the chilly forecast may move it to an earlier time at Fitness Evolution in Sartell.
