DULUTH, Minn. – Saint John's dropped its third straight tennis match with a 6-3 non-conference decision at St. Scholastica on Sunday, March 30, in Duluth.
CSS (13-3, 3-0 UMAC) improved to 39-9 in doubles competition this season with the sweep of all three bouts Sunday.
Senior Joe Laue (St. Louis Park, Minn./Holy Angels) won at No. 2 singles, 6-4 and 6-1, while junior Jordan Otto (Rice, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral) followed with a 7-6 (8-6) and 6-2 decision at No. 3. Sophomore Andrew Nagel (Maple Grove, Minn.) won the Johnnies' other singles match at No. 6: 7-6 (7-4), 4-6 and 10-7.
The loss was the first for SJU against St. Scholastica since Feb. 8, 2003 (5-4 in Duluth).
The Johnnies return to conference action with a 4:30 p.m. match at St. Olaf on Saturday, April 5, in Owatonna.
