A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Sophomore midfielder Rocky Harmon (Hudson, Wis.) scored two goals to give Saint John's (12-6, 7-3 MIAC) a 2-0 win over Macalester in the MIAC Playoff quarterfinals on Tuesday (Nov. 4) in Collegeville. Harmon put the home team ahead early with his third goal of the season in the 12th minute. Senior David Wee (Savage, Minn./Prior Lake) started the play with a long kick toward the net. Harmon, a Macalester defender and the goalkeeper all reached the ball at the same time. As the defender attempted to box him out from the ball, Harmon snuck his right foot around and sent a shot just inside the far post. Harmon padded the Johnnies' lead 13:06 into the second half. Junior goalkeeper Kevin Lebahn (New Hope, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) dropped a deep kick with wind to junior co-captain Alex Niederloh (Maple Grove, Minn.), who sent a header over a handful of players to the front of Harmon. Harmon turned and unleashed a shot to the far, top corner of the net. Lebahn made one save to improve to 11-6 and earn his fifth shutout of the season. SJU out-shot the Scots 11-8, including an 8-3 margin in the second half, and 6-1 on goal.

POSTSEASON HARMONY: Harmon has now scored each of the Johnnies' last three postseason goals. He tallied the lone goal, in the 73rd minute, for SJU in the 2-1 loss at Carleton in the MIAC Playoff championship game last Nov. 9 (2013).

1986: The postseason victory at home was the Johnnies' first since Nov. 7, 1986 (a 1-0 victory over Wisconsin-Whitewater in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs en route to an Elite-Eight appearance; the MIAC Playoffs were established in 2003).

ANOTHER GOOSE EGG: Tuesday's win was SJU's sixth in a row and fifth consecutive shutout. Lebahn made one save to improve to 11-6 and earn his fifth shutout of the season. He has allowed five goals in his last 10 matches, accumulating 440:38 consecutive scoreless minutes in goal.

REGIONAL RANKINGS: SJU was again listed at No. 10 in the latest National Soccer Coaches' Association of America (NSCAA) North Region rankings released Nov. 4 (prior to the Johnnies' 2-0 win over Macalester). Mac was ranked ninth. Three Iowa schools were atop the list (No. 1 Loras, No. 2 Luther, No. 3 Wartburg), followed by Gustavus Adolphus (No. 4) and St. Scholastica (No. 5). St. Olaf fell from fourth to sixth following its 3-2 loss to Carleton Nov. 1.

A LOOK AT THE OLES: St. Olaf (12-4-2, 7-1-2 MIAC) clinched its sixth MIAC regular-season title in men's soccer, and second in the last four years, with a 2-1 win at Augsburg Oct. 28 before falling at nearby Carleton by a 3-2 score in the regular-season finale Nov. 1. Sophomore Jens Undlin, a transfer from Division I Loyola-Chicago, ended the regular season as the MIAC's leader in both goals (14) and points (31). Junior Kevin Skrip followed with 18 points (8g/2a). Led by sophomore Ben Braman (.804 save percentage and 0.93 GAA), three goalkeepers combined for a .771 save percentage and a 1.03 GAA.

BACK IN SEPTEMBER: SJU allowed two goals in the first 22 minutes of the match in a 2-1 loss at St. Olaf back on Sept. 20. Skrip put the home team in front in the 16th minute (15:51) and Amadou Gueye added another less than six minutes later (21:12) for the Oles. Senior Ian Scudder (Sherwood, Ore.) cut the deficit in half for SJU with his second goal of the season in the 31st minute (30:06). Scudder utilized a great throw-in from junior Cole Howard (Ridgefield, Wash./Skyview), and unleashed a header to the back of the net. Lebahn made four saves in the loss as STO registered a slim edge in shots, 9-8 (6-5 on goal).

SERIES HISTORY: The Johnnies are 23-11-2 against St. Olaf since 1981, including a 10-5-2 record in Northfield. Five of the last six meetings, however, were decided by one goal (2-3-1 record for SJU during the six-year span).
