A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: SJU broke a scoreless tie with a pair of goals in the second half to post a 2-0 shutout of Concordia last Saturday in Moorhead. Sophomore Joe Balder (Stillwater, Minn.) tallied what proved to be the game-winner, his second goal of the season, at the 61:58 mark of the second half. Sophomore Michael Coborn (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) padded the lead with his 10th goal of the season, and 30th point, with 4:18 remaining. Sophomore Elliott Olsen (Cedar, Minn./St. Francis) and freshman David Wee (Savage, Minn./Prior Lake) collected the assists for SJU. Senior Mike Sikich (Apple Valley, Minn.) made seven saves to post his second shutout of the season and improve to 5-1 on the year.

COBORN PUTTING TOGETHER A STRONG YEAR: Sophomore Michael Coborn tallied two of the Johnnies' three goals last week to become the sixth Johnnie in the program's history to reach the 30-point plateau in a single season. He currently leads the MIAC (all games) in points (30) and assists (10), and is tied for third with 10 goals.

A LOOK AT THE JIMMIES: Jamestown enters the match with SJU riding a three-game winning streak. The Jimmies (10-6, 3-1 DAC) picked up the Johnnies after Hamline canceled its match, which was scheduled for Oct. 28. An NAIA institution, Jamestown is 0-2 against opponents familiar to SJU: 2-1 overtime loss to Luther (Iowa) Sept. 14 and a 2-1 loss to Concordia-Moorhead Oct. 11. Dominic O'Connor, a freshman from Accrington, England, leads the team in goals (8), assists (12), points (28) and shots-on-goal (33).

SERIES HISTORY: This is the first meeting between Saint John's and Jamestown on the soccer field. The Johnnies are a combined 12-5 against the Jimmies in the sports of baseball, basketball and wrestling. SJU split a pair of doubleheaders against Jamestown in 1990 and 1995, and claimed a 7-3 record on the hardwood (1927, 1938, 1949, 1960, 1967, 1975, 1976, 1978 and twice in 1979). The Johnnies are 3-0 in duals on the mat, with the most recent matchup occurring in 2002.
