COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Wartburg (Iowa) scored two unanswered goals to defeat Saint John's 2-1 in the Johnnies' home opener Saturday, Sept. 4, in Collegeville.

Freshman midfielder Michael Coborn (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) scored his first career goal four minutes into the match to give SJU an early 1-0 lead. Senior midfielder #J.C. Artavia# (White Bear Lake, Minn.) assisted on the play.

Neil Shields tied the match at 1-1 with one minute left in the first half, and Jon Farrell tallied the game-winner in the game's 68th minute for the Knights (2-0-0). SJU played with only 10 on the field during the match's final 33 minutes due to a red card.

Senior goalkeeper Matt Anderson (Eden Prairie, Minn.) recorded 10 saves for Saint John's (0-1-1).

The Johnnies return to action Sunday, Sept. 5, against Cornell (Iowa). The match is scheduled for at 1 p.m. at George Durenberger Field in Collegeville.
