COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Senior Dutch Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd) recorded back-to-back wins via tie-breaker at No. 2 singles as the host Johnnies edged Concordia-Moorhead 5-4 on Wednesday, April 21, in Collegeville.
Hansen won both sets 7-6 with victories of 7-2 and 7-4 in the tie-breakers. He and fellow senior Luke Odegaard (Forest Lake, Minn.) teamed up to earn an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Odegaard earned a singles win of his own at No. 4, 7-5 and 7-5.
Sophomore Ian Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd) earned the Johnnies' other singles win at No. 3, 6-2 and 6-3.
The tandem of junior Elliott Elm (Eagan, Minn./Holy Angels) and freshman Zach Shriwise (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley West) improved their record to 8-5 (5-3 MIAC) with an 8-4 decision at No. 3 doubles.
The Johnnies (8-9, 3-6 MIAC) host an alumni event at 4 p.m. this Saturday, April 24, in Collegeville. SJU ends its regular season by hosting St. Cloud State next Wednesday, April 28. The match is set for 3 p.m. at the Saint John's Tennis Courts in Collegeville.
