COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's defeated Saint Mary's 9-0 in the final home match of the 2009 season Saturday, April 25.

All six singles matches were decided in two sets and only one included a tie-breaker.

Freshman Ian Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd) won his fifth consecutive match at No. 3, 6-2 and 6-3. Senior Mark Steelman (St. Paul, Minn./Holy Angels), junior Luke Odegaard (Forest Lake, Minn.) and senior Kevin Goihl (Litchfield, Minn.) all posted a 6-0 set victory on the afternoon.

SJU has now outscored the Cardinals 69-12 in the last eight meetings (8-0 record).

The Johnnies (9-7, 5-3 MIAC) travels to face Carleton in the regular-season finale on Sunday, April 26. The match is scheduled for noon in Northfield.
