SJU Tennis Posts 8-1 Win Over Hamline

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Saint John's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 win over Hamline on Tuesday, April 21, in St. Paul.

Senior Mark Steelman (St. Paul, Minn./Holy Angels), junior Dutch Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd), freshman Ian Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd), junior Luke Odegaard (Forest Lake, Minn.) and senior Eric Inglis (Hutchinson, Minn.) all posted two-set victories in singles competition. Senior Kevin Goihl (Litchfield, Minn.), making his first appearance in singles competition since injuring his knee March 27, won his match at No. 5 by scores of 6-2, 5-7 and 10-8 in the super-breaker.

The doubles tandems of Steelman and Odegaard and No. 1 (8-3), and Inglis and junior Tyler McKay (Rochester, Minn./John Marshall) at No. 3 (8-4) also earned victories.

The Johnnies (8-6, 4-2 MIAC) host Bethel this Friday, April 24, for the first of three matches this weekend. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Saint John's Tennis Courts in Collegeville.
