SJU Tennis Earns Road Win at Concordia

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Saint John's defeated Concordia-Moorhead 6-3 on Friday, April 17, in Moorhead. The match was the first for SJU (7-5, 3-1 MIAC) in three weeks.

The Johnnies won all but one singles match on the afternoon. Junior Dutch Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd) and freshman Ian Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd) cruised at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively, while junior Luke Odegaard (Forest Lake, Minn.) won his match 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 at No. 4. Senior Eric Inglis (Hutchinson, Minn.) pulled off a 6-4, 6-3 win, before freshman Matt Peckskamp (Sartell, Minn./Sartell-St. Stephen) won the match of the day. Peckskamp won the first set 7-6 via an 8-6 win in the tie-breaker before dropping the second set 6-2. Peckskamp then came back and won the super-breaker 10-8.

Inglis and Ian Hansen won the lone doubles match for SJU at No. 3, 8-5.

The Johnnies return to action on Saturday, April 18, as they play host to St. Olaf for a 2 p.m. match at the Saint John's Tennis Courts in Collegeville. The match is the first home outdoor match of the season.
