SJU Tennis Splits Pair in St. Peter

ST. PETER, Minn. – Saint John's University split a pair of matches over the weekend in St. Peter. The Johnnies fell to No. 8 Gustavus Adolphus 9-0 on Saturday, March 14, before defeating NCAA Division II MSU-Mankato 8-1 on Sunday, March 15.

SJU swept all six singles matches, three of which were decided by super-breakers, in the 8-1 win over the Mavericks (3-7, 2-1 NSIC) on Sunday. Freshman Ian Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd), senior Kevin Goihl (Litchfield, Minn.) and freshman Chris Voigt (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) earned super-breaker wins at Nos. 3, 5 and 6 singles, respectively. MSU's lone win came at No. 2 doubles, 8-5.

The Johnnies (5-4, 2-1 MIAC) return to action this Saturday, March 21, with a 6 p.m. match against South Dakota State at Gold's Gym in Sartell.
