SARTELL, Minn. – Saint John's opened its MIAC schedule with a 7-2 win over Macalester on Sunday, Feb. 15 at Gold's Gym in Sartell.

The Johnnies swept all three doubles matches and claimed wins at Nos. 1, 2, 4 and 5 singles. Senior Mark Steelman (St. Paul, Minn./Holy Angels) began his spring season with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Sophomore Dutch Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd) claimed a 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, while senior Kevin Goihl (Litchfield, Minn.) won his match at No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-4. Junior Luke Odegaard (Forest Lake, Minn.) dropped his first set 6-4 at No. 4 singles, then stormed back with a 6-3 win in the second set and an 11-9 win in the super-breaker.

SJU (1-1, 1-0 MIAC) hosts St. Thomas for a 5 p.m. match this Saturday, Feb. 21 at Gold's Gym in Sartell.
