Johnnies Lose Tough Match, 3-2

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's dropped a 3-2 decision to St. Thomas on Wednesday, Oct. 21, in Collegeville.

Brett Day gave St. Thomas (9-5-1, 5-2-0 MIAC) an early 1-0 lead 16:47 into the match.

Junior Andre Blaine (Andover, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian) tied the game with his first career goal 14:02 into the second half. Senior Jake Archbold (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) and junior Kevin Saunders (Hastings, Minn.) assisted on the scoring play for SJU (5-7-2, 1-5-1 MIAC).

Four minutes later, senior Paul Keane (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) gave the Johnnies a 2-1 lead off a feed from freshman Cillian Wing (Harlingen, Texas/South).

The lead was short-lived, however, as the Tommies' Reid Moser-Bliel scored a header off a corner kick less than three minutes later.

Elliot Admundson then tallied the game-winner at the 83:43 mark.

Senior Luke Nelson (Caledonia, Minn.) made seven saves in the loss.

The Johnnies return to action this Saturday, Oct. 24, as they play host to Saint Mary's. The match is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at George Durenberger Field in Collegeville.
