COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - Loras College's Miguel Bonilla scored two goals as the visiting Duhawks, ranked No. 12 nationally, defeated Saint John's 2-0 on Sunday, Oct. 12 in Collegeville.
For the second consecutive season, Bonilla scored the game-winning goal against the Johnnies on a penalty kick at the 36:20 mark of the first half. Bonilla won the game on a penalty kick with 2:56 remaining in the first overtime of last year's 1-0 win against SJU.
Bonilla tallied his second goal of the game 1:08 later.
The shots were even at 17-17, including 12-12 on goal, in the match.
Junior goalkeeper Luke Nelson (Caledonia, Minn.) made eight saves in the first 45 minutes of the match, while sophomore Matt Anderson (Eden Prairie, Minn.) made two stops in the second half.
The Duhawks' Nate DuBois made 12 saves to record his seventh shutout of the season.
SJU (9-5, 4-3 MIAC) returns to conference action next Saturday, Oct. 18 as it travels to face Saint Mary's. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. in Winona.
