Saint John's junior Nick Schuler (Roseville, Minn./Totino-Grace) improved to 20-6 on the season with a perfect 3-0 record at 165 pounds, two pins and a major decision, as the eighth-ranked Johnnies went 2-1 at the Minnesota Duals last Saturday, Jan. 28, at Augsburg.
Schuler is 8-1 in his last nine matches as an unranked wrestler since posting a pair of losses at the Citrus Classic Dec. 29. Fifteen of his 20 total victories are bonus-point wins, including eight pins (five major decisions and two technical falls).
SJU travels to face top-ranked (NCAA Division II) St. Cloud State for a 7 p.m. dual this Thursday, Feb. 2, at Halenbeck Hall in St. Cloud. The Johnnies return home to host the annual North Country Open at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Donald McNeely Spectrum in Collegeville.
