COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's freshman defender
Billy Cornett (Minneapolis, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) was named The House Food & Tap's SJU Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Cornett totaled seven points (3g/1a), including two game-winning goals, and helped SJU post four-straight shutouts to start the season from the backline last week. The four shutouts through the season's first four games are a program record. SJU allowed only 11 shot attempts over four games, eight of which were on net. The Johnnies, thanks to the work of Cornett and the SJU defense, allowed just one corner kick in 360 minutes of play and were awarded 49 on the offensive side of the field.
The Johnnies (4-0-0 overall) travel to face Bethany Lutheran (1-2-1 overall) tonight (Tuesday, Sept. 8) at 7 p.m. in Mankato.
