FARMINGTON, Minn. – Saint John's senior Cole Stencel (Mapleton, Minn./Maple River) was named the MIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Stencel finished eighth out of 478 runners with a time of 14:56.1 as SJU placed ninth out of 33 teams late Friday night at the Division II Augustana (S.D.) Twilight. He topped his personal-best 5k time by 38 seconds and was faster than all but six NCAA Division I competitors and led all of Division II and III in the race.

The Johnnies and Saint Benedict host the annual Toni St. Pierre Invitational in two weeks at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at River Oaks G.C. in Cold Spring.
