D3football.com Poll – Week 4

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Saint John's University remained at No. 5 in tonight's (Sunday, Sept. 27) D3football.com Top 25 poll.

Six teams in NCAA Region 6 were ranked in the top 25, including five in the top seven: Wisconsin-River Falls (No. 2), Wisconsin-Platteville (No. 4), SJU (No. 5), Wisconsin-Whitewater (No. 6), Bethel (No. 7) and Wisconsin-La Crosse (No. 19). Linfield (23) and Chapman (12) received votes.

SJU scored two touchdowns on special teams and took advantage of three turnovers in a 72-0 win Saturday (Sept. 26) at Augsburg. Sophomore wideout Griffin Murray (Jordan, Minn./Holy Family Catholic) took the opening kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown and junior defensive end Charlie King (Faribault, Minn./Bethlehem Academy) recovered a punt, blocked by freshman safety Isaiah Kelly (Eden Prairie, Minn.) in the end zone for a score with 1:21 left in the first quarter.

Senior quarterback Trey Feeney (Moorhead, Minn.) ended the day, after the first series of the second half, 24 of 34 passing for 268 yards and four touchdowns. Sophomore tight end Tanner Davis (Minnetrista, Minn./Holy Family Catholic) led the offense, which outgained the Auggies by a 569-108 margin, with five catches for 121 yards and a touchdown.

The Johnnies (3-0, 2-0 MIAC) host No. 7/8 Bethel (2-1, 2-0 MIAC) as part of Family Weekend at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in Clemens Stadium.
