Final Results
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Saint John's Blue tied for ninth out of 22 teams at Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational on Monday, Sept. 14, at Wild Ridge G.C. (par 72).
The host Blugolds won the tournament with a two-round 290-294-584. Dubuque (Iowa) finished second after carding Monday's lowest round (+1, 289) for a , followed by Illinois Wesleyan (+22, 594) in third and UWEC's second team (+29, 601) in fourth. Bethel tied with UW-Stout with a 605 (+33) for fifth. SJU Blue carded a 615 (+43) alongside St. Olaf after a Monday 312 (+24). Saint John's Red tied with Bethel's B team in 11th (+44, 616).
Sophomore Austin Roloff (Minneapolis, Minn./Spring Lake Park) was SJU and the red team's top finisher, carding a round-two 77 (+5) with a birdie and 11 pars for 26th out of 124 golfers.
Junior Marty Timmons (Brainerd, Minn.) and classmate Connor O'Hara (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) led SJU Blue in a tie for 35th. Timmons shot a team-best 74 (+2) on Monday by way of 11 pars and a trio of birdies. O'Hara was eight-over on Monday (80) with a 73 the day before.
Freshman Abe Walther (St. Paul, Minn./St. Thomas Academy) tied for 40th overall after shooting nine-over in his second round. He was even on 12 holes but tripled three and bogeyed three for an 81. Sophomore Lukas Ehmke (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) tied for 68th after shooting an 80 alongside O'Hara. He made par on 11 holes and birdied another. Sophomore Collin Fogarty (Pine Island, Minn.) rounded out SJU Blue with a 78 (+6) on Monday.
Senior Nate Appelhof (Blaine, Minn./Totino-Grace) and freshman William Andrus (St. George, Utah/Homeschool) both tied for 40th. Appelhof was only one shot over par on holes No. 10-18 but bogeyed three of his last four holes, while Andrus shot an 80 on (+8) in round two. Junior Gavin Grahek (Maple Grove, Minn.) shot a 77 with a pair of birdies and nine pars to tie for 57th.
SJU competes at Bethel's Minnesota Golf Classic this Sunday-Monday, Sept. 20-21, at Pioneer Creek G.C. (par 72) in Maple Plain.
