MIAC Release | SJU's MIAC Elite 22 Award Recipients

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's University senior first baseman Collin Kray (Little Falls, Minn.) earned the MIAC Elite 22 Award for baseball for the second-straight season on Tuesday, May 19.

Modeled after the NCAA Elite 90 Award, the MIAC Elite 22 Award for baseball is presented to the individual with the highest GPA among the student-athletes who participated in the four-team MIAC Tournament. The honoree must be a junior or senior and in at least his second season of competition with his current team. The total number of credits completed served as the tie-breaker.

Kray is the third Johnnie baseball student-athlete to achieve the honor and the fourth overall, joining shortstop Logan Hershey '16 in 2016 and second baseman Alex Toninato '15 in 2015.

A chemistry major (pre-medicine emphasis) with a 4.0 GPA, Kray is expected to earn his third Academic All-MIAC distinction (minimum 3.5 GPA) in June. He played 20 games, with six starts at first base, and batted .375 (9-for-24) with two doubles, six runs scored and three RBI this spring.

SJU finished third in the MIAC with a 13-7 record (28-16 overall) and made its 16th-consecutive appearance in the MIAC Tournament (18th overall) under the direction of first-year head coach Scott Lieser this spring.
