COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's University senior goaltender Jon Howe (Chanhassen, Minn.) was named to the 2025-26 CCM Hockey/American Hockey Coaches' Association (AHCA) Division III All-America West Region first team on Thursday, March 26.

Howe was joined on the first team by Saint Mary's forward Joona Juntunen and defenseman Cole Mickel, the MIAC Men's Hockey Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively.

Howe is SJU's first All-America first-team selection in 20 years – goaltender Adam Hanna '06 in 2005-06 – and the 25th overall. He is the sixth Johnnie goaltender to be named an All-American in any right (Bob Hanson '79, 1978-79 in the NAIA; Rick Gregory '03, 2003; Adam Hanna '06, 2004-06; Saxton Soley '16, 2013; and Mac Berglove '21, 2022).

He finished with a 16-6-4 record – the fourth-most wins in an SJU season – to go with a 2.51 GAA, a .929 save percentage and 869 saves. The 869 saves were the second-most in program history, 18 from the record of 887 owned by Hanson set in 1978-79. Three of Howe's four career assists were tallied this season.

Howe earned his first All-MIAC award after he led the conference in minutes played (977:56) Among goaltenders with 400 saves or more, he was first in GAA (2.27) and save percentage (.933) in league play. Howe was also second in saves (512). He was also named to the MIAC All-Playoff Team after he posted a 1.95 GAA and a .956 save percentage with 86 saves in the two MIAC playoff games.

The All-MIAC honor was the seventh for a Johnnie goaltender in the last 10 seasons (no awards in 2020-21), joining Bailey Huber '25 (2025), Berglove (2022), Andrew Lindgren '20 (2018-20) and Soley (2016). 

Howe ended his career with a 29-21-7 record, two shutouts, a 2.58 GAA, .923 save percentage and 1,761 saves in 60 games played.

SJU (17-7-4, 10-3-3 MIAC) swept both MIAC titles for the fifth time in program history in 2025-26. The Johnnies won their 10th MIAC regular-season championship and first since 2020, as well as their first MIAC playoff championship (sixth overall) and trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament (seventh overall) since 2013. 

The regular-season title was the third for head coach Doug Schueller, who collected his third MIAC Men's Hockey Coach of the Year honor, and the fifth overall (2013 and 2026 MIAC playoff championships).
