Five Johnnies Earn AHCA All-American Scholar Honor

GLOUCESTER, Mass. – Five Saint John's University hockey student-athletes achieved 2025-26 America Hockey Coaches' Association (AHCA) All-American Scholar honors on Wednesday, July 8.

To qualify for the AHCA All-American Scholar Program, sponsored by Krampade, an NCAA Division I or III men's hockey student-athlete must have attained at least a 3.75 grade-point-average in both the fall and spring semesters during the 2025-26 academic year and appear in 40 percent of the team's games. Exceptions were granted to injured players and back-up goaltenders.

The Johnnies recognized were (alphabetically, academic years are for 2025-26):

-Senior goaltender Jon Howe (Chanhassen, Minn.), an accounting major;
-Junior forward Logan Lyke (Medina, Minn.), a finance major;
-Junior forward Jacob McPartland (Victoria, Minn.), a global business leadership major;
-Sophomore forward Jordan Newpower (Lino Lakes, Minn.), a global business leadership major;
-Senior defenseman Michael Spinner (Prior Lake, Minn.), a global business leadership major.

The AHCA distinction is the fourth for Howe and third for Lyke.

Five other Johnnies – junior forward Jackson Borst (Edina, Minn.), senior defenseman Conner Couet (St. Michael, Minn.), junior forward Chris Kernan (Maple Grove, Minn.), sophomore defenseman George Moore III (Little Falls, Minn.) and junior forward Jack Wandmacher (St. Louis Park, Minn.) – played over 40 percent of SJU's games and recorded a GPA between 3.50-3.74 in each semester but did not achieve the 3.75 needed for the honor. 

As a team, the 28 Johnnies combined for a 3.46 GPA in 2025-26.

SJU (17-7-4, 10-3-3 MIAC) swept both MIAC titles for the fifth time in program history in 2025-26. The Johnnies won their 10th MIAC regular-season championship and first since 2020, as well as their first MIAC playoff championship (sixth overall) and trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament (seventh overall) since 2013.
