MANHEIM, Pa. – Three Saint John's University wrestling student-athletes earned 2025-26 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-America honors on Thursday, March 19.

Those honored (listed alphabetically) include:

-Freshman Carson Gellerman (Becker, Minn./Big Lake), a global business leadership major;
-Sophomore Thomas Holmquist (Mendota Heights, Minn./St. Thomas Academy), an accounting major;
-Junior Connor Krueger (Superior, Wis.), an elementary education major.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must carry a GPA of at least 3.20 (cumulative or last academic year) and either place in the top eight at the NCAA regional or wrestle at least 15 matches and recorded a winning percentage higher than .660.

SJU has now produced 38 Scholar All-Americans over the past 18 seasons.

The academic honor is the second-consecutive for Holmquist and Krueger.

Krueger became SJU's first national entrant since 2020 with a second-place finish in the 133-pound bracket as the Johnnies finished 10th out of 16 teams at the NCAA Regional in February. He went 0-2 last weekend at the NCAA Division III Championships to end the season with a 21-5 record.

He registered an impressive 22-11 record as a freshman in 2023-24 but suffered an injury in the Johnnies' 2024-25 season opener and missed two months. He ended the campaign one win shy of reaching the NCAA Championships with a fourth-place finish at 133 pounds at the regional and finished with a 9-6 record.

Holmquist led the Johnnies with three wins (3-3 record) at the NCAA Regional to place sixth at 125 pounds and end the season with a 25-7 record. He, like Krueger, just missed a trip to nationals in 2024-25 with a fourth-place finish at 125 and a 15-8 record as a freshman.

Gellerman was one win away from the NCAA Championships but finished sixth at 184 pounds. He suffered a defeat in the semifinals and medical forfeited his remaining two matches for sixth place and ended the season with a 19-5 record, including 11 pins.
