BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Saint John's freshman guard
Peyton Podany (Anoka, Minn.) earned his second-consecutive MIAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week honor on Monday, Feb. 23.
Podany scored 34 points for the second time in his last three games as SJU locked up the No. 2 seed in the MIAC Playoffs with an 81-79 win over Augsburg on Saturday (Feb. 21) in Collegeville. He finished 13 of 21 from the field, including 6-for-11 from three-point range, and grabbed seven rebounds in 32 minutes.
Podany led the MIAC, among freshmen, in both made three-pointers (45, tied for second overall) and three-point percentage (.433/45-for-104, fourth overall); and was second in scoring (16.5 ppg., seventh overall).
The Johnnies (15-10, 11-5 MIAC) host an MIAC semifinal at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, in Sexton Arena.
