Day 4 Results

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Saint John's senior Brayden Slavik (Green Isle, Minn./Chaska) won his third conference title of the meet and third-consecutive crown in the 1,650-yard freestyle as SJU finished third out of six teams at the 2026 MIAC Championships on Saturday, Feb. 14, at the University of Minnesota Jean Freeman Aquatic Center.

Gustavus Adolphus won its seventh-straight MIAC team title with 953 points, followed by Carleton (628.5), SJU (524) and Macalester (497.5).

Slavik won the 1,650-yard freestyle with a MIAC-, SJU- and meet-record time of 15:32.16, which edged his previous record of 15:32.98 set last year. The win enabled Slavik to tie the program record of eight individual MIAC titles owned by Matt Zelen '99. A length ahead by lap 11, Slavik lapped his first swimmer by length 19, the second and third by length 21 and everyone by 31.

SJU recorded a program-record 57 points and six Johnnies scored in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Junior Trevor Barton (Buffalo, Minn.) followed Slavik in fifth place (16:56.83) and freshman Braydon Ohrtman (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) was seventh (17:19.99). Junior Luis Flores (Hugo, Minn./Mahtomedi) took 11th (17:54.25), while freshman Dylan Murphy (Hamel, Minn./Wayzata) and junior Brennan Close (Princeton, Minn.) were 14th (18:25.00) and 15th (18:49.80), respectively.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team (Ohrtman, Schulze, Hovda, Slavik) earned All-MIAC honors (top three at the MIAC Championships) with a third-place time of 3:08.70.

Freshman Lincoln Cochran (Helena, Mont./Capital) led four Johnnies in the 200-yard breaststroke with an eighth-place time of 2:12.02. Senior Clay Megaw (Monticello, Minn.) won the B final for ninth place (2:08.78), while sophomore Jason Jones (Monticello, Minn.) was 12th (2:13.80) and Close returned to the pool following the mile for 15th (2:19.22). 

Senior Andrew Roggeman (St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) led three Johnnies in the 200-yard backstroke's B final with a 10th-place finish (1:59.05). Sophomore Riley Yerks (Hutchinson, Minn.) claimed 14th (2:04.84) and freshman Tanner Betts (Stacy, Minn./Chisago Lakes) was 15th (2:06.26).

Freshman Vincent Schulze (Eden Prairie, Minn.) matched his prelim time of 47.03 seconds to finish 11th in the 100-yard freestyle. The event's top seed, senior Carsten Reuter (St. Cloud, Minn./Tech), did not compete due to illness.

Freshman David Lammers (Willmar, Minn.) was the lone Johnnie in the 200-yard butterfly in 15th (2:12.50).

Junior Cody Watts (St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) competes in two weeks at the NCAA Central Regional on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27-28, at Kalamazoo College's Natatorium in Kalamazoo, Mich.

The field for the 2026 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, which are scheduled for March 18-21 in Indianapolis, Ind., are scheduled to be announced on Thursday, Feb. 26.
