Brayden Slavik (Green Isle, Minn./Chaska) was named the MIAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
The weekly honor is Slavik's fifth of the season and 11th of his career.
Slavik led the Johnnies with three individual wins – the 400-yard individual medley (4:14.02), 500-yard freestyle (4:51.03) and 1,000-yard freestyle (9:51.90) – in Saturday's (Jan. 17) 173-126 loss at Gustavus Adolphus.
The reigning MIAC Swimmer of the Year and a 2024 All-American (honorable mention with a 15th-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle), Slavik broke three program records, including two of his own, to win the 400-yard individual medley (4:00.12), 500-yard freestyle (4:29.49) and 1,650-yard freestyle (15:32.98) at the 2024 MIAC Championships. He is a six-time MIAC champion (five individual and one relay) and 10-time All-MIAC honoree (top three at the conference meet).
He already has NCAA B-cut times in the 500- (4:30.15) and 1,650-yard (15:43.14) freestyles this season.
The Johnnies host Carleton for Senior Day at noon this Saturday, Jan. 24, in the Warner Palaestra Pool.
