Johnnies Are 6 Shots Back After Day 1 of MIAC Championships

Round 1 Results

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. – Saint John's golf is sixth out of nine teams, six shots from the lead, following the opening round of the 2025 MIAC Championships on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Edinburgh G.C. (par 72).

Concordia-Moorhead leads the pack with a +12, 300), followed by a tie between Bethel and Gustavus Adolphus at 301 (+13). The defending MIAC champion, Carleton, is tied with Northfield-foe St. Olaf for fourth (+15, 303) and SJU is sixth at 306 (+18).

The second round begins for SJU at 11:12 a.m. Sunday.

Senior Ethan Kress (Woodbury, Minn.) went -1 on his final 12 holes to lead the Johnnies with a 2-over par 74. He is fourth out of 45 golfers.

Sophomore Gavin Grahek (Maple Grove, Minn.) double-bogeyed his first hole (No. 1) and suffered another double on No. 17 for a 4-over par 76 and is 14th (+4, 76). Junior Nate Appelhof (Blaine, Minn./Totino-Grace) followed with a team-best five birdies for a 77 (+5) in 20th and freshman Austin Roloff (Minneapolis, Minn./Spring Lake Park) is 29th with a 79 (+7). Senior Tim Fultz (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) rounded out the Johnnies' five with an 80 (+8), despite an eagle on the par-5 No. 4, for 33rd.
