Round 1 Results
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Saint John's golf is tied for second, one shot from the lead, following the opening round of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 14, at Eau Claire C.C. (par 71).
No. 4 Illinois Wesleyan shot a 13-over par 297 and is a shot ahead of the tie between SJU and the host Blugolds at 298 (+14). IWU's second team is tied with Wisconsin-Stout for fourth (+16, 300).
Monday's final round begins at 9:30 a.m.
Sophomore
Gavin Grahek (Maple Grove, Minn.) shares first place, out of 120 golfers, with St. Olaf's Ryan Herbst after both scored an opening-round 69 (-2). Grahek was one under with eight pars and a birdie through his first nine holes, followed by a trio of birdies on the back nine to offset two bogeys.
Junior
Nate Appelhof (Blaine, Minn./Totino-Grace) shot three-over on the front nine but made up ground with three birdies to finish in a tie for seventh with a one-over 72.
Freshman
Austin Roloff (Minneapolis, Minn./Spring Lake Park) shot a 78 (+7) with a pair of birdies for 49th, followed by senior
Tim Fultz (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area), who is one shot behind his teammate with a 79 (+8). Senior
Gus Briguet (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) is in 80th with an 81 to round out the five golfers on the Johnnies' first team.
Freshman
Lukas Ehmke (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) led SJU Blue, which is 19th (+31, 315), with a 5-over par 76. Classmate
Braxton Berlin (Lake City, Minn.) shot a 79 (+8) for 64th on day one.
