A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Saint John's won its three-team Fall Finale last Friday (Nov. 7) in Collegeville. The Johnnies totaled 18 points, followed by Gustavus Adolphus (44) and Concordia-Moorhead (80).
SJU's top-eight runners did not compete in preparation for this weekend's NCAA North Regional. Will Weber, an unattached runner from Division I Minnesota, won the 8k race in 25:11.
Sophomore
Adam Marable (Crystal, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) led the Johnnies in fifth place, first among Division III runners, in 27:55.
Freshman
John Steines (St. Paul, Minn./DeLaSalle) was seventh (28:27) and junior
Jack Montgomery (Long Lake, Minn./Orono) followed in ninth (28:32).
THE JOHNNIES' SEVEN: Each team is permitted to race seven student-athletes at the NCAA Regional, of which five count toward the team score. SJU is scheduled to send these seven to Wisconsin: senior

TO QUALIFY FOR NATIONALS: The field for the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships is expected to be announced no later than 2 p.m. CT Sunday, Nov. 16, on ncaa.com. Each of the 10 regional champions earn an automatic bid to nationals and 22 teams will receive an at-large berth. In addition, 70 individuals - the top seven runners not on qualifying teams - earn automatic selection based on their finish at the regional. The men's race begins at 11 a.m. ET Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Roger Millikin Cross Country Course in Spartanburg, S.C.
WHO WILL BE THERE: The 32-team NCAA North Region consists of schools from the Midwest Conference, Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference: Augsburg, Beloit (Wis.), Bethany Lutheran, Bethel, Carleton, Carroll (Wis.), Carthage (Wis.), Concordia-Moorhead, Concordia (Wis.), Gustavus Adolphus, Hamline, Lawrence (Wis.), Macalester, Martin Luther, Minnesota-Morris, Milwaukee School of Engineering (Wis.), Ripon (Wis.), SJU, Saint Mary's, St. Norbert (Wis.), No. 20 St. Olaf, St. Scholastica, Wisconsin-Eau Claire, No. 1 Wisconsin-La Crosse, Wisconsin-Oshkosh, No. 12 Wisconsin-Platteville, Wisconsin-River Falls, No. 13 Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Wisconsin-Stout, Wisconsin-Superior, No. 27 Wisconsin-Whitewater and Wisconsin Lutheran.
SJU'S REGIONAL HISTORY: The Johnnies have 36 top-eight finishes in their last 42 NCAA Regionals (dating back to 1982), including five titles and 23 top-five finishes.
LAST YEAR'S RACE: SJU ended its 2024 season with an 11th-place finish out of 31 teams at last year's NCAA Regional held Nov. 16 (2024) at Carleton. Top-ranked Wisconsin-La Crosse won the meet with 40 points, followed by then-No. 9 St. Olaf (87), then-No. 6 Wisconsin-Whitewater (103), Wisconsin-Stevens Point (158) and then-No. 22 Wisconsin-Eau Claire (178). SJU totaled 318 points in 11th, 32 behind Carleton in 10th (286).
Junior
Vincent Kaluza (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) led SJU in 42nd out of 220 runners with a time of 25:23. Senior
Aiden Chalmers (Chaska, Minn./Minnetonka) and junior
Cole Stencel (Mapleton, Minn./Maple River) tied for 58th (25:46) and senior
Nick St. Peter (Maple Grove, Minn.) claimed 78th (26:12). Senior
Eamon Cavanaugh (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park and River Forest) rounded out the Johnnies' five in 82nd (26:18).
