MIAC Release

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Saint John's University kicker/punter Matt Hansen (Longmont, Colo./Niwot) was named the MIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday, Oct. 20.

Hansen drilled a pair of field goals in the second quarter, including a 47-yarder on the final play of the first half, in Saturday's (Oct. 18) 41-6 win at Concordia. The 47-yard field goal tied Hansen with Mike Schmidt '83 for the seventh-longest in program history and was the longest by a Johnnie since 2012 (Jimmie Mattson's '13 49-yarder on Nov. 10 at Bethel). 

Hansen also made all five PATs (is perfect on 38 PATs this season), averaged 37.3 yards on three punts and 50.9 yards on seven kickoffs, including two touchbacks, in Moorhead.

A two-sport student-athlete at SJU, Hansen was a member of the Johnnies' MIAC-champion, 4x100-meter relay in May.

No. 11 SJU (5-1, 4-1 MIAC) hosts Carleton (5-1, 5-0 MIAC) during Family Weekend at 1 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 25, in Clemens Stadium.
