First Preseason Ranking Slots SJU Football at No. 9

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Saint John's University football team was ranked No. 9 in Lindy's Division III Preseason Top 10 poll. Lindy's listed a top 25 in years prior to 2025, but only a top 10 was listed for the second-straight year.

The Johnnies (10-2, 8-1 MIAC) recorded their 27th 10-win season and made their 34th postseason appearance (30th in Division III) in 2025 and ended the season ranked as high as No. 8 in the final American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) poll (No. 11 in the final D3football.com poll).

SJU ended last season in the top 20 statistically in 14 categories, including as the NCAA Division III leader on third down (58.7 percent, 74-for-126) and fewest tackles for loss allowed per game (2.25). The Johnnies were second in both passing offense (364.8 ypg.) and scoring offense (47.3 ppg.); third in both completion percentage (.718) and total offense (506.8 ypg.); fifth in scoring defense (12.1 ppg.); seventh in both passing efficiency (177.46) and total defense (241.1 ypg.); eighth in first downs (311); ninth in fewest sacks allowed per game (0.58); 10th in red-zone defense (61.5 percent, 16-for-26); 13th in defensive touchdowns (4); and 17th in red-zone offense (88.9 percent, 64-for-72).

Individually, rising-senior quarterback Trey Feeney (Moorhead, Minn.) finished third in Division III in completion percentage (.728); fifth in passing touchdowns (40); seventh in passing efficiency (176.3); eighth in both passing yards (3,352) and points responsible for (240); ninth in completions per game (23.42); and 14th in passing yards per game (279.3 ypg.).

SJU opens the 2026 season with a 1 p.m. kickoff Sept. 5 against Wisconsin-La Crosse – which was ranked No. 10 by Lindy's – in Clemens Stadium. The Johnnies host No. 3 Bethel for Family Weekend on Oct. 3 in Clemens Stadium.
