SARTELL, Minn. – No. 12 Saint John's golf won its Fall Invitational by 15 shots on Sunday, Sept. 15, at Blackberry Ridge G.C. (par 72).

The Johnnies recorded Sunday's best round – a 7-over par 295 – to finish with a two-day score of 576 (E), 15 shots ahead of Concordia-Moorhead in second (+15, 591). Whitworth (Wash.) was third at 599 (+23), one shot ahead of SJU Blue in fourth (+24, 600).

Junior Ethan Kress (Woodbury, Minn.) won the 78-man field with a two-round total of 137 (-7). He scored four birdies Sunday for a 71 (-1), his team-leading third round at par or better already this season, to secure medalist honors for the second time of his career. Kress went -7 on the tourney's eight par-5 holes and tied for first with nine birdies overall.

Senior Andrew Boemer (Eagan, Minn./St. Thomas Academy) posted a 1-over par 73 to earn third place with a 143 (-1), the sixth top-five finish of his career.

The other three Johnnies on the first-place team all finished in the top 25: junior Gus Briguet (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) tied for 16th (+6, 150); freshman Gavin Grahek (Maple Grove, Minn.) tied for 20th (+7, 151); and freshman Drew Krekelberg (Rogers, Minn.) tied for 23rd (+8, 152).

Sophomore Nate Appelhof (Blaine, Minn./Totino-Grace) matched Kress' four birdies Sunday to tally a 71 (-1) of his own and tie for 23rd (+8, 152) for SJU Blue. Junior Tim Fultz (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) and freshman Joey Simonich (Moorhead, Minn.) led the squad in a tie for seventh at 147 (+3).

Senior Cole Proctor (Brainerd, Minn.) led SJU White, which claimed sixth at 604 (+28), with a 73 (+1) during the final round and tied for 16th (+6, 150). He tied for second with 26 pars in the two-day tournament. Freshman Charlie Willette (Eden Prairie, Minn.) led the fivesome overall in a tie for 11th at 149 (+5).

SJU returns to the course for the three-day Twin Cities Classic, hosted by No. 25 Gustavus Adolphus, Sept. 28-30.
