COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's senior sprinter
Kevin Arthur (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) was named the MIAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 20.
The weekly honor is the third of Arthur's career and first in indoor track (two outdoors).
Arthur broke two program records as Saint John's finished second out of 10 teams last Friday (Feb. 16) at Division II MSU-Mankato's Maverick Invitational. He won the 60-meter dash in a program-record 6.78 seconds, which edged his own record of 6.79 seconds that he collected Feb. 3 at Division I Minnesota's Gopher Classic. Two hours later, Arthur won the 200-meter dash with a record time of 22.08 seconds. The previous SJU record was 22.19 set by Drew Schoenbauer '19 in 2019.
Arthur is currently tied for fourth in NCAA Division III in the 60-meter dash and 19th in the 200-meter dash.
SJU competes at the 2024 MIAC Indoor Championships this Friday-Saturday, Feb. 23-24, at St. Olaf's Tostrud Center in Northfield. The meet begins with the first part of the heptathlon at 2:20 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22. The heptathlon resumes at 10 a.m. Friday, followed by the first day of full competition at 2:30 p.m. Saturday's action begins with field events at 11 a.m. and on the track at 1 p.m.
