ST. PAUL, Minn. – Saint John's won 12 of the 13 events in a 191-34 dual victory at Hamline on Friday, Nov. 8, at the Bush Center Pool.
Three Johnnies won two events apiece. Senior
Liam Noble (Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) touched the wall first in both the 100- (49.18) and 200-yard (1:53.92) freestyles, while junior
Brayden Slavik (Green Isle, Minn./Chaska) claimed victories in the 50-yard freestyle (21.80) and 100-yard butterfly (54.19).
Freshman
Jackson Hovda (Sartell, Minn./Sartell-St. Stephen) recorded the best performance of his young, collegiate career with wins in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.15) and 1,000-yard freestyle (11:28.56).
Seniors
Colby Kern (Delano, Minn.) and
Langston Philion (Maple Grove, Minn.) took first in the 100-yard backstroke (56.38) and 200-yard individual medley (2:06.89), respectively, while sophomore
Luis Flores (Hugo, Minn./Mahtomedi) posted a first-place time in the 500-yard freestyle (5:17.21).
Sophomore
Cody Watts (St. Cloud, Minn./Tech), the reigning MIAC Men's Diver of the Week, won the 1-meter event with a score of 217.40.
SJU won both the 400-yard freestyle (3:21.67;
Jack West,
Carter Larson, Philion,
Connor Thayer) and 400-yard medley (3:41.74; Noble, Kern, Philion, Thayer) relays.
The Johnnies return to the pool in two weeks at Gustavus Adolphus' Grace Goblirsch Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 23, in St. Peter.
